Kalinga joins nationwide launching of ‘Kadiwa ng Pangulo’

Updated: Jul 19, 2023

Tabuk City, Kalinga – To help Kalinga consumers have access to variety of low-priced products while helping farmers boost their income, the 'Kadiwa ng Pangulo' was launched in the province on Monday, July 17.

Kalinga is among 81 provinces in the country that participated in the nationwide launching of the program of the President who is concurrently the Secretary of Agriculture.

Its main program was held in Pampanga, where a Memorandum of Agreement was also inked, paving the way for the establishment of "Kadiwa ng Pangulo" outlets in all local government units in the country.

On its kick-off in Kalinga held near the White Carabao landmark, along Manuel Agyao Boulevard, discounted grocery items, rice, fish, fruits and vegetables were offered.

DTI said it would be a one-day activity but a plan of institutionalizing the said program in the province will be made possible.

Provincial DTI Director Rennie Ramos added they are considering bringing down the program up to the barangay level for farmers to directly sell their products to consumers allowing them to get greater income instead of selling them to middlemen.

As for the provincial government, Governor James Edduba said that in support to the president’s program, they will be looking into a possible site in the province where a Kadiwa center could be erected.

He added the provincial government will also continue finding means to further built infrastructures in support to agriculture with focus on construction of farm-to market roads.

“The Kadiwa ng Pangulo Centers”

In a statement, Malacañang Palace said the ‘Kadiwa ng Pangulo centers shall be facilitated by the concerned agencies every 15 and 30 of the month, where local farmers are to sell their produce to their consumers at an affordable price.’

They added that through the Kadiwa outlets, rice, fish, poultry, vegetables, fruits, livestock, and other basic commodities would be made available and affordable to the marginalized.
