Kalinga launches first Provincial Breastfeeding Station in Cordillera

Tabuk City, Kalinga – The first Provincial Breastfeeding or Lactation Station in Cordillera was launched in Kalinga earlier today, May 17, 2021 at the 2nd Floor of the Provincial Capitol Building, beside the Provincial Health Office.


Governor Ferdinand Tubban and Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Edward Tandingan along with other personnel graced the ribbon cutting or the ceremonial opening of the station.

The governor ordered the establishment of the breastfeeding station through Executive Order No. 2022-17 issued on March 25, 2022, to help all nursing mother employees of the Provincial Government and clients of the Provincial Capitol.


The facility also allows mothers to express their breastmilk for refrigeration.

The breastfeeding or lactation station is equipped with an icebox, refrigerator, tables, bed, chairs, milk bags, logbook, IEC materials, other breastfeeding paraphernalia, and a water closet.

According to the Provincial Governor’s Office – Information Services, all nursing employees may avail compensable breastfeeding or lactation breaks on top of their regular break time for a total of not more than 40 minutes within their eight-hour working period.


As underscored earlier, the establishment is among Tubban’s way of supporting his constituents, by providing safe and healthy working environment and enhancing women’s welfare in realizing their full potential in the government service.
