Kalinga LGU allots financial assistance to families of COVID-19 fatalities

Tabuk City, Kalinga - To help ease some financial burden, especially in the hospitalization of family members who died due to COVID 19, the Kalinga Provincial Local Government Unit (PLGU) provided P5,000.00 assistance to each affected family.

Through the Governor’s Office and Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), the financial assistance was given to 47 bereaved families, the first batch of 24 recipients received the aid last April, while the second batch consisting of 23 families received the aid on July 6.

Social worker and in charge of Crisis Intervention Unit Jonie Bacanay said that the families who were given the cash assistance were those who complied and submitted the requirements such as death certificate as proof that an immediate member of a family died due to the virus.

During the provision of said financial assistance, Provincial Administrator Atty. William Puday Jr. condoled with the families, expressing hope that the provincial government helped in a way.

“Nu man pay haan a mabalin a maisukat daytoy ti naawan kanyatayo ket at least man lang a makatulong iti bassit,” Puday said.

Meanwhile, Governor Ferdinand B. Tubban, represented by his Executive Secretary Elizabeth Balais II, empathized with the families.

Tubban also reminded the public to take advantage of getting the vaccines, if qualified, to protect themselves and their families against the dreaded virus.

Assistant PSWDO Gretchen Curameng also invited the immediate family of COVID-19 casualties to proceed to their office for said assistance. There will only be a brief interview and verification of death certificate that will be conducted before the issuance of the financial support.
