Updated: 2 days ago

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Locals and tourists visiting Kalinga can now stop by the Kalinga Pasalubong Center to buy locally-made souvenir products as it formally opens to the public on Tuesday, June 25.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony was led by the Department of Trade and Industry, along with provincial and local officials in the province.

The pasalubong center is located near the welcome arc at Sitio Talaca, Malalao, Tabuk City. It is the first of its kind in the province boasting Kalinga’s indigenous products including food items, woven products, fashion accessories, indoor plants, furniture and many more products produced by 67 Micro, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs).

The center, a solar-powered building, not only showcase yKalinga locally-grown and manufactured products but also gives a scenic, instagrammable view.

Through the pasalubong center, the products of locals are made more accessible to the public at affordable prices, offering livelihood opportunities that would aid in enhancing the province’s economic condition.

To recall, the building, which is funded through the initiative of Congressman Allen Jesse Mangoang, was inaugurated February 9 this year.

It was later turned over by DTI Cordillera to a group of Kalinga MSMEs called the Chamber of Kalinga Producers Incorporated last month. It started its initial operation since then.

Later, additional materials were installed, like retail display cabinets, countertop or check-out counter stands, clothing, bag holders, and apparel display racks.

Plans of improving the center were promised by local officials during the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
