Kalinga observed crime-free Semana Santa 2025; Gov. Edduba credits peaceful holy week to unity and discipline

Tabuk City, Kalinga - iKalingas observed Semana Santa 2025 peacefully with no untoward incident  recorded in the province throughout the Holy Week. 

 

According to a report from the Kalinga Information Office, the week-long religious event concluded safely, with no casualties or safety-related concerns recorded by the provincial police office, under the leadership of Provincial Director Police Colonel James D. Mangili. 

 

Mangili, in his interview with the Kalinga PIO, confirmed the peaceful observance of Holy Week, saying, “ Kaasi ti apo, awan ti reported incidents tau related to SEMANA SANTA celebration”. 

 

The official credited the outcome to the combined efforts of the police and other stakeholders. The agency reported that a total of 600 cops have been stationed at major entrances and exits of various tourist/picnic sites in the province to ensure the safety of visitors and residents during the Holy Week. 

 

“Nagtrabaho met piman ti kapulisan tau ken nadumaduma nga stakeholders ket nalinak ken natalna ken agtultuloy latta ti implementation tau iti "OPLAN LIGTAS SUMVAC,” he added. 

 

The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), on the other hand, attributed the success to the convergence and coordination of various agencies/partners at all levels. These included the Barangay, City and Municipal DRRMOs, NIA, DPWH—Upper and Lower Kalinga District Engineering Offices, PRC -Kalinga, BFP, and the DRRM Councils across the province. 

 

Meanwhile, Governor James Sagmayao Edduba thanked all the participating agencies and community members for their vigilance, cooperation, and discipline. According to him, the peaceful Semana Santa in Kalinga this 2025 is a ‘reflection of the unity and the shared responsibility’ of the people of the province.
