Kalinga PDRRMC on heightened alert amid typhoon Marce

Updated: Nov 8

Tabuk City, Kalinga - As typhoon “Marce” intensifies, Kalinga Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council has activated its Emergency Operations Center (EOC) on Red Alert Status in preparation to safeguard lives and minimize the impact of the typhoon in the province.

As mentioned by the province’s Information Office, the EOC is now open 24/7, fully staffed and placed under standing alert to monitor the weather situation and implement emergency protocols as may be required.

Led by Provincial DRRM Officer Jolanta C. Baac, the Kalinga PDRRMC aims for a fast and coordinated response to any development related to Typhoon Marce's movement.

All this is supported by the advanced communication systems and logistical support available at the EOC, providing real-time updates to the different emergency response teams.

The team is ready and prepared to respond to potential hazards and dangers like flooding, landslides, and severely damaged infrastructures. Specialized teams are on standby and ready to respond quickly to any situation.

Communications teams are also on the ground 24/7 dispersing warnings and information to the public so that communities are informed and ready to prepare precautionary measures.

The PDRRMC appealed to the public to remain vigilant and follow safety precautions so they may be better prepared in case of an emergency during this critical period.

Meanwhile, the latest report from the DOST - PAGASA showed that Kalinga is still under signal number 2 today, November 7, due to typhoon Marce with a moderate to significant threat to life and property.
