Tabuk City, Kalinga – The Provincial Local Government Unit (PLGU) of Kalinga provided financial assistance to the family of the Gonzalo siblings, who drowned during a family outing at the Chico River on February 01, 2022.

Governor Ferdinand Tubban, along with the Provincial Social Welfare Development Office, turned over an amount of P10,000 to the Gonzalo family on Monday, March 14, 2022.

The Provincial Governor's Office – Information Service, in a press release, said that financial assistance is one of the assistance granted to the family from the PLGU.

As recalled, Tubban as the Chairperson of the Provincial Risk and Reduction and Management Council, ordered the deployment of the province’s retrieval team and personally monitored the operations during the search and retrieval of the missing Gonzalo siblings.

These efforts resulted in the discovery of the bodies of the victims, Maybelle Gonzalo, 20, and her sibling Frank Gonzalo, 17, on February 04, 2022.

Tubban, through his Facebook post, hoped that such incident will not be repeated as he expressed that the life of each and everyone is valuable.

“We remember the tragic loss of the Gonzalo family with the drowning of two siblings. Today, the Provincial Social Welfare and Development gave assistance to the family. We pray that such an occurrence will be avoided in the future. God, take care of us,” expressed the governor.

Meantime, the family of the siblings recognized and thanked the effort of the government, including all those who helped and sacrificed for the retrieval of their children.
