Kalinga PLGU secures funding for P206M farm-to-market road project in Pasil

Tabuk City, Kalinga – The improvement of a farm-to-market road in Pasil shall soon begin as funding was already secured by the provincial local government unit for its implementation.

On Friday, September 6, the Limood, Balinciagao Sur-Magsay-Malucsad-Amdalao Farm-to-Market Road (FMR) in Pasil was approved for funding under the Department of Agriculture-Philippine Rural Development Project (DA-PRDP) by the Cordillera Regional Project Advisory Board (RPAB).

Said project was endorsed to the National Project Coordination Office for the issuance of No Objection Letter 1. When the letter comes out, procurement activities for the subproject will proceed.

The project, a 6.4o-kilometer road, is aimed at supporting agricultural activities in town, specifically the transport of agricultural goods in the market. Agricultural activities in the area include heirloom rice production, banana production, and coffee production.

Once completed, the road shall serve more or less 958 households or 4,501 individuals.

Said Farm to Market Road will provide a linkage to the Tabuk–Balbalan-Abra national road and the Calanan-Mountain Province national road, benefitting the barangays in the recipient areas.

As stated, the total funding needed for the implementation amounts to P206 million. The provincial government shall contribute 10 percent of the total project amount as its counterpart.

With the positive outcome of the deliberation of the subproject, Governor James Edduba has nothing but gratitude to the Regional Project Coordination Office. He also thanked the legislative department of the province for backing the project, specifically the approval of the counterpart fund.

As mentioned by the provincial chief executive, the project is a portion of the P1.5 billion DA-PRDP investments secured by the province.

Meantime, DA-CAR Regional Executive Director and RPAB Chair Atty. Jennilyn Dawayan challenged Kalinga officials to preserve coffee areas along said roads while reminding them not to allow replacing them with other crops or even building business establishments along said road.
