Tinglayan, Kalinga – On their fifth-year anniversary celebration, the Liyab Diwa Class 2017-02 who are assigned to the units of Kalinga Police Provincial Office built from their own pocket a public restroom at Basao Elementary School in Basao, Tinglayan.

The class, in a press release, conveyed that the project was inspired by the best practices of the 1st Kalinga Police Mobile Force Company’s (KPMFC’s) “Kabadang” project and 2nd KPMFC’s “Manfaruwan” that have been extending public aid, especially to the needy in the province.

The class members who chipped in for the project fund started the construction of the two-door comfort room with a faucet facility for handwashing in said school on July 27, 2022.

With the cooperation of stakeholders such as the local officials, teachers, parents, and the religious sector, the said initiative was finished on Sunday, September 04, and was turned over to the recipients on Monday, September 05.

Among those who extended help for the project are the members of the Kabataan Kontra Droga at Terorismo-Basao Chapter and Kaligkasan Warrior of 2nd KPMFC, Tinglayan Municipal Police Station, and the municipal leaders led by Mayor Sacrament Gumilab, among others.

Aside from the 67 pupils in the school, the restroom will benefit other children and the community as a whole.

“Our people, especially the children, deserve to live in a safer, adaptive, and disaster resilient community,” underscored the police class.

Other initiatives

After the ceremonial turnover, the class conducted community outreach through feeding activity; distribution of packages containing clothes, assorted groceries, and rice; and lecture on Republic Act 7610 and RA 10627 or the Anti-Child Abuse and Anti-Bullying laws.

Further, the class marked their anniversary through house-to-house visitation.

These were all in relation with their agency’s “MKK=K” meaning “Malasakit, Kaayusan, Kapayaan tungo sa Kaunlaran” and “KASIMBAYANAN” or “Kapulungan ng inyong Pulis, ng inyong Sundalo, ng inyong Bantay Dagat, ng ating COMELEC, at lahat ng Lingkod Bayan kasama ang Simbahan at Pamayanan.”

The members of the class expressed gratitude to their top officials and stakeholders for their support and contribution to the success of their project.
