Kalinga police retrieve firearm used in a suicide incident


Tabuk City, Kalinga – An alleged case of suicide in Pasil left a firearm used by a uniformed man to end his suffering evening of November 19, 2020.


According to the story of an informant, the man might have considered in desperation the difficulty of going on living having to spend a lot money on his illness. This, he said, could be the reason why he was persuaded to get the gun and take his own life.


In an interview with Kalinga Police Provincial Director PCOL Davy Vicente Limmong, he said the firearm used in the alleged suicide incident is a Cal. 38 revolver loaded with 4 ammunitions and a piece of fired cartridge case at the cylinder.


The gun with its ammunitions was surrendered on November 21, 2020 by the relatives along with the Punong Barangay of Guina-ang to PLT Constancio Rosito, Acting Chief of Police of Pasil Municipal Police Station.


Limmong related that the police talked with the relatives and convinced them to surrender the said loose firearm, reminding them of the danger of possessing such gun.


“It’s not good to keep it kasi it is a gun that took its own master’s life. Ket agyaman kami ta insurrender da met,” he said.


The firearm is now under the custody of the Pasil MPS for documentation and disposition.


A case of drowning in Pinukpuk


Meantime, during the same interview, Limmong mentioned about a case of drowning in Pinukpuk involving a 15 year old student who was swept by the current while crossing the river.


Limmong said a search and rescue operation followed after the report was made with the joint forces of the PNP, BFP and the personnel Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management of the municipality.


The child, as stated by witnesses, was crossing the Chico River and was already halfway when he felt that the current was too strong. In deciding to go back, he was not able to hold against the current and got carried away by the water.
