Kalinga police say BSKE 2023 very peaceful, very smooth

Tabuk City, Kalinga – The election process for the 2023 barangay and youth polls in the province was smooth and free of violence, says Kalinga Police Provincial Office.


PNP Kalinga Spokesperson, PCapt. Ruff Manganip, told GURU Press Cordillera that the authorities monitored zero case of election-related violence on Monday, Oct. 30.

“As of this time, we recorded zero election-related incident, meaning awan. So very peaceful iti election tayo ditoy. So we thank God nga very peaceful,” he said.


He added that the casting of vote in Mabongtot, Lubuagan, the only village in Kalinga which members of the electoral board are cops, is also peaceful. Police officers were deployed instead of teachers after the latter refused to serve in the area.


As for the gun ban implementation, Manganip informed there were no violators documented in Kalinga since Aug. 28, the start of the policy in view of the 2023 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections.


“Nagpintas tatta ta natulnog dagiti taga Kalinga,” he said.
