Tabuk City, Kalinga – Shunning away from social media has helped one of Kalinga pride's, Divina Sagmayao Tallion seized the Top 8 spot of the X-ray Technologist Licensure Examination held last month.
Garnering an average of 81.25%, Divina ranked 8 among the 44 passers out of 155 takers.
In an interview, she shared that she felt as if she won the lottery upon hearing of the result. The news, she said, made her believe in herself and her capabilities.
Divina, a resident of Barangay Ipil, Tabuk City, is third among the four children of Dalen and Bobby Tallion.
After graduating from high school at Tabuk Institute in 2015, she enrolled at the International School of Asia and the Pacific-Kalinga, where she finished last 2019.
Following her graduation, Divina immediately took Bachelor in Science in Radiologic Technology at La Salette, so she didn’t have time to review for her X-Ray Technologist board exam.
Just last year, when she was already about to graduate on her second course, she went to review in Manila.
Divina admitted that preparing for the licensure examination is ‘tough’ but she gave all her best saying, ‘in order to succeed, we must not only prepare mentally but also physically.’
She made her routine to get rid of distractions like social media. She focused on reading books and did her daily prayers. She also made a habit to eat healthy foods and exercise to prevent sickness.
“I also give myself time to breathe and relax. Most of all, I do always pray to God not only to pass the examination but for God to give strength and wisdom in taking the exam,” Divina added.
With these thorough preparations, she expected to be on the Top 10 list ‘after all, that’s what all examinees are aiming for.’
Divina dedicates her success to her family, for they have always been her source of inspiration.
“They were the ones who believed in me that I can pass the licensure examination. My success is also my family's success,” she stressed.
The topnotcher extended gratitude to all individuals who supported and believed in her, specifically mentioning her instructor Peter John M. Ventura, her friend Megan Minor, and her cousin Jessielyn Boston, among others.
Asked about her future plans after topping the board, Divina said she will soon find a job that is in line with her profession ‘in order to help my family financially, at the same time preparing myself again for Radiologic Technology licensure exam this year.’
