KALINGA Prov’l Meet 2025: About 3,000 student-athletes battle for gold

Tabuk City, Kalinga - With the hope of representing the province in the higher sporting events, the student-athletes from the seven municipalities of Kalinga are ready to compete at  the much-anticipated Provincial Athletic Meet 2025.

 

There are around 3,000 athletes joining the event, according to the Schools Division Office (SDO) - Kalinga.

 

With the theme “Play with Heart, Win with Honor,” this year’s Kalinga Provincial Athletic Meet is set to kick off tomorrow, January 22, promising to be another exciting and competitive provincial sporting event for the athletes and spectators alike.

 

The theme emphasizes the value of sportsmanship, commitment, and respect in competition, encouraging participants to participate in the games with enthusiasm and to strive not just to win but also to express their passion for sports.

 

The provincial meet 2025 will showcase a variety of sports including archery, athletics, arnis, badminton, baseball, basketball, billiards, swimming, sepak takraw, chess, volleyball, futsal, and gymnastics, among others.

 

These sports contests will take place in various venues within the province.

 

Schedule of activities

 

Based on the information obtained by Guru Press Cordillera from the SDO - Kalinga, the kick-off starts with a parade at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 22, to demonstrate unity and pride among the municipality’s delegations. Said parade commences in front of the St. Williams Cathedral and proceeds to the Kalinga Sports Complex, where an opening program will follow.

 

At 1:00 p.m., the games will begin and will run until Friday, January 24. The announcement of the winners, the overall champion, and the closing ceremony will be on Saturday, January 25.

 

The winners of the provincial sporting event will represent the province in the upcoming Cordillera Administrative Region Athletic Association (CARAA) Meet slated in the last week of February or the first week of March, 2025, in Benguet.

 

To recall, the Rizal delegation emerged as the overall champion of the 2024 Kalinga Provincial Athletic Meet, earning 80 gold medals. Meantime, Pinukpuk clinched second place with 67 golds, while Tanudan secured third place with 49 gold medals.
