Kalinga Provincial Agriculture promises better services with construction of P6M centralized office

Updated: Jul 2, 2021

Tabuk City, Kalinga—Farmers and those involved in agriculture in the province are now to expect efficient services from the Office of the Provincial Agricultural Services (OPAS) with the construction of a six-million worth Agricultural Extension Research and Farm Mechanization building meant to centralize all the division of the office.

Considering the hassles of coordinating with the different divisions of the office to include the Research Regulatory Division, Agriculture and Engineering Division, the Production and Facilities Division, and the Administrative division which are in various areas, a need to give prior attention to this project has been realized to improve management and efficiency of services.

“Ma-improve ti efficiency ti services kadagiti farmers tapnu nu ag-follow-up da, adda kami iti maysa a building ket ti situation mi tatta agsa-sabali ti buildings ti kada division, so ni apo farmer piman nu apan ag-follow-up nga umay dituy opisinak ket ibaun ku isuda a mapan iti maysa a division a sabali a building,” Bakilan said.

The project for its first phase funded by the provincial government with an amount of P1, 905, 406.48 has begun following the groundbreaking ceremony held Monday, June 28, 2021 at the OPAS compound, Bulanao, Tabuk City, Kalinga.

The first phase of the two storey-building according to Provincial Agriculturist Domingo Bakilan covers the foundation and the floorings of the building and is expected to be completed on October 26, 2021.

To fully complete the construction of the facility, Bakilan said that another 4 million is needed as the estimated cost for the project is around P6 million.

“Ma-complete suna depende nu manu ti budget a mai-allot ket ti target mi kuma ket malpas nu June nu next year nu continuous a nga mapondoan,” Bakilan stated.

Present during the groundbreaking ceremony were Governor Ferdinand B. Tubban, Vice Governor Dave Odiem as represented by his staff, members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, and OPAS personnel.

Alongside the program is the blessing of the previously turned-over farm machineries, which came from the Philippine Center for Post-harvest Development and Mechanization.
