Kalinga records ZERO injuries due to stray bullets, pyrotechnic device during Holiday Season

Tabuk City, Kalinga – New Year’s Eve celebration in Kalinga was generally peaceful with no reported cases of stray bullets nor pyrotechnic device injuries, says Kalinga Police Provincial Office.


Deputy Provincial Director for Administration, Police Lieutenant Colonel Jomarick Felina mentioned that KPPO documented zero casualties and injury relative to the use of firecrackers and other pyrotechnic devices, and stray bullets caused by indiscriminate firing.


“As to record, wala tayong reported casualties kahit man lang ‘yung minor injuries, wala,” he said.

However, he added that two individuals were arrested for allegedly firing their guns indiscriminately during the New Year’s Eve celebration.


“Zero injury tayo sa mga pyrotechnic device, ‘yung illegal discharge of a firearm. However, during the celebration, we were able to apprehend individuals who allegedly fired indiscriminately,” he added, saying that fortunately, no one was injured from the incident.


Of all the provinces in the Cordillera Administrative Region, the Province of Kalinga along with Apayao and Mountain Province are the only ones with zero cases and injuries during New Year’s Eve.

Felina thanked the different local government units in Kalinga for their support and for crafting and passing of resolutions and ordinances against the use of illegal firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices.


“I will give emphasis on the cooperation of our local government units … the LGU, nag-heed da iti request tayo to pass a resolution or an ordinance to regulate the use of firecrackers and other pyrotechnic devices,” he conveyed.
