Kalinga residents surrendered 7 firearms



Tabuk City, Kalinga – Through continuous police dialogues with the community, 7 loose firearms were surrendered by citizens to the different police stations in Kalinga this October 26 – 31.

This is part of the campaign against loose firearms and is a joint effort between the Kalinga Police Provincial Office and barangay officials for the promotion of peace and order in the province.

According to Kapulisan Ng Kalinga, among the surrendered firearms is a homemade shotgun, homemade12-gauge handgun, homemade caliber 5.56mm short firearm with 2 live ammos, short caliber 9mm (black widow revolver) with 3 live ammos, homemade caliber 38, homemade short 12-guage shotgun, and a homemade caliber 45. Kalinga Police Provincial Director PCOL Davy Vicente Limmong during KPPO’s radio program ‘Pulisya Salaknib Ti Umili’ at Radyo Pilipinas expressed that the campaign against loose firearms is one among the programs which they prioritize being one of the factors leading to criminality in the area.

“Tuloy tuloy metlang daytoy campaign tayo iti daytoy panag iggem iti illegal nga firearms ta makitkita tayo nga daytoy use of illegal firearms ket iti maysa nga nagpa adu iti criminality tayo ditoy probinsiya iti Kalinga,” he said.

Just this October 22-23, License to Own and Possess Firearms (LTOPF) Caravan was held at Camp Juan M Duyan to give chance to gun holders in Kalinga who wanted to apply for or renew their licenses to own and possess firearms.
