Kalinga rider’s wrong move of overtaking police led to his arrest

Tabuk City, Kalinga — A 19-year-old rider was arrested after suspected dried Marijuana bricks were noticed on his backpack when he stumbled and fell on the road while overtaking a police vehicle in Sitio Banat in Barangay Bagumbayan afternoon of January 11.


Thirty five pieces of Marijuana bricks were seized with an estimated drug board value of P4, 392, 240. The suspect who sustained minor injuries was brought to Tabuk City Police Station.

KPPO Director PCol. Davy Vicente Limmong, in an interview, said that this is not the first time a youth is involved with illegal drugs and that he is appealing to them not to waste their lives as well as their strength and energy over illegal drugs, noting that there are a lot of ways to earn money.


“The youth should not waste their life being involved iti illegal drugs. There are a lot of means to earn,” he said.


“Sayang dagitoy nga strength ken talent da nu kasjay lang iti papanan na. So we encourage them to avoid being involved in any [illegal drugs] transaction,” he added.

Further, Limmong said that the Kalinga police will continue to enhance their campaign and operations against illegal drugs.


According to the report of Kalinga Police Provincial Office, personnel of Tabuk City Police Station while traversing the said road encountered a yellow motorcycle without a plate number. This motorcycle sped off and overtook the police vehicle.


However, the rider lost balance and stumbled on the shoulder of the road. The police immediately helped the suspect which led to the discovery of suspected dried Marijuana bricks on his partly opened backpack.
