Kalinga Robusta coffee to be showcased in 2022 Philippine Coffee Expo

Tabuk City, Kalinga – The notable Robusta coffee of Kalinga province will be showcased in the 2022 Philippine Coffee Expo (PCE) to be held on September 14 to 15, 2022 at the SMX Convention Center in Davao City.

The PCE is a special avenue for the entire coffee industry of the Philippines to converge and tackle key challenges and opportunities through technical discussions, presentations of new technologies to increase productivity and quality and build networks within the coffee sector.

Event organizers underscored that it is important for key industry members to gather after facing severe limitations brought about by the pandemic, which substantially affected the entire country’s coffee sector.

“PCE 2022 will bring together over 1,400 participants representing the entire breadth of the sector, from researchers, producers, roasters, buyers and service providers to consumers for the benefit of the Philippine coffee industry,” stated the PCE.

Kalinga’s Robusta will be featured by Olimpo Lumasok, the top 10 winner of the 2022 Philippine Coffee Quality Competition (PCQC) held earlier this year; and Gawidan Malin-awaan Marketing Cooperative.

The Robusta coffee of Apayao will likewise be featured by the Sacpil Farmers’ Association while Hojap Multipurpose Cooperative will be sent to showcase Ifugao’s Robusta and Arabica. Coffee from other provinces in the region will also be displayed in said exhibit.

The regional Department of Trade and Industry invites the public to partake in said event.

“You still have time to sign up for this event by visiting and messaging the Philippine Coffee Expo’s Facebook page,” said the department.

This year’s theme, according to PCE, is climate change and coffee. Among the highlights of the two-day expo will be international and local speakers presenting in plenary and different breakout sessions.

The exhibit area will feature more than 100 coffee producing organizations, companies, and key players in the country’s coffee market system.
