Kalinga’s 1st gold in 2023 CARAA meet snatched by Tanudan pupil

Tanudan, Kalinga – It might have been his first time participating in the Cordillera Administrative Region Athletic Association(CARAA) meet, but Ejay Dawadao of Tanudan didn’t hold back from grabbing the much coveted gold medal in the competition.


Ejay who is a pupil of Pagugo Elementary School in Tanudan sprinted to victory in the 1500-meter run for elementary boys category on April 29.

His win was the first gold medal collected for Kalinga in this year’s regional athletic meet.


Other Tanudan athletes who took home medals include Alvin Mala-ao who snatched silver medals in javeline throw, shot put, and discuss. Jingjing Lingbawan and Frank Magalim likewise bagged another silver for the province in long jump and arnis-half extra light weight division, respectively.


Five bronze medals were also hauled by other yTanudans namely Rudolf Gu-oban, John Bulawit, Frank Magalim, Myer Galadi, Alexander Bumosao, and Nash Bumosao.


Executive Assistant to Mayor Jaedicke Rhoss Dagadag, Alex Ladwingon informed that these medalists will be receiving cash incentive from the Tanudan Local Government Unit.


In a statement, Mayor Dagadag expressed his appreciation to all the athletes who represented Kalinga for the dedication, hard work, and effort they spared in the 2023 CARAA meet.

“To our medalists, thank you for bringing pride and honor to our municipality and, of course, to our province. Adda incentives yu from the LGU-Tanudan, dibale ta bumawi tayon to nu next ta isaganaan tayo like the other municipalities and provinces in the region,” he said.


As he encourages the youth to participate in sports activities, Dagadag also reminds them to balance their extra-curricular activities with their academics.


“Haan yu latta lipatan nga agadal nga nalaing for your future,” he stressed.
