Kalinga’s 26th founding anniversary to be celebrated on February 14

Tabuk City, Kalinga – To commemorate the 26th founding anniversary of the province, the provincial local government said a simple activity shall be held and will be aired via Facebook streaming on February 14,2021.

During the “Isangguni sa Ating Gobernador” radio program of the PLGU aired Tuesday, February 2, 2021, Provincial Information Officer Dionica Mercado said a thanksgiving mass shall be conducted which shall be followed by the messages of Kalinga provincial officials.

“There will be a thanksgiving mass and then we will hear the messages of our Provincial Officials, from our provincial vice-governor, our governor, our lone district representative and yung beating of the gong,” Mercado stated.

“We will also listen to the virtual message of our Guest of Honor, si Senator Aimee Marcos so that is one of the few things to watch out for,” she added.

The information officer likewise announced the province will not be celebrating the 5th Bodong Festival.

Said decision was earlier announced last month following the surge of Covid-19 cases in the province.

“Awanen apo daytoy Bodong Festival, yung supposedly nga 5th Bodong Festival ket suspended but the PLGU Kalinga will still commemorate this day (February 14) kasi pang 26th founding anniversary na po natin,” Mercado said.

Activities for the festival were also cancelled last year due to threat brought by the Covid-19 virus.
