Baguio City, Philippines – Local exhibitors from Kalinga are currently participating at the weeklong ‘Mangan Taku’ Food Fair at the Rose Garden, Burnham Park, Baguio City.

The food fair features local delicacies and products across the Cordillera Region in celebration of “Buwan ng Kalutong Pilipino,” or Filipino Food Month.

Taking part in the food fair are the Kalinga Food Treat, Sheldon's Integrated Farm, Tabuk Indigenous Women and Livelihood Association and the Slow Food Community of Dangtalan, Pasil.

Serving as the main display are food and wine products locally produced in the province – the ‘inandila’, the ‘binungor,’ and the ‘Bugnay wine’.

Other products being exhibited are sugarcane juice, woven rattan products, unoy ‘champorado’, organic vegetable dishes, coffee, chili paste, ‘unoy’ rice, and Kalinga ‘laga’ products, among others.

Meantime, aside from the exhibit, the food fair also features various events, which include the cook fest that transpired Thursday, April 25. Said activity enabled 12 equally talented chefs in the region to show off their cooking skills.

On Friday, April 26, Cordilleran bartenders were also given the chance to compete in the Cordillera Wine Mixology, where spectators caught a glimpse of how the participants prepare alcoholic drinks utilizing Cordilleran wines.

Now on its 5th year, the celebration of Cordillera’s rich culinary heritage opened on March 24 and will conclude this Monday, April 29.
