Tabuk City, Kalinga - From Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ) in August, the province of Kalinga will be placed under tighter restrictions with the imposition of General Community Quarantine or GCQ starting September 8 to September 30, 2021.

This is following the announcement of the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases on September 6, 2021 despite the appeal of the province that Kalinga be placed under Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) due to the rising number of cases.

With the increase of positive cases, Vice Mayor Bernard Glenn Dao-as asked for cooperation among the public. He reiterated that protocols being imposed should be observed as the virus, is easily caught and spread by those who do not follow minimum public health standards (MPHS).

“Manamnama iti mas nainget nga pannakaipatungpal kadagiti protocols mangrugi intunu bigat ditoy probinsya gapu iti nangato a bilang dagiti positive cases nangnangruna ditoy Tabuk City,” the vice mayor said in his Facebook page post.

As of 9:30pm of September 6, the record of Department of Health-CAR shows that Kalinga has a total of 439 active case with 5,495 recoveries and 95 deaths.

Barangays Bulanao Centro, Bulanao Norte, Dagupan Centro, Dagupan West and Agbannawag have been placed under 14 days Granular Lockdown starting 12:00 am of September 4, 2021 to 12 midnight of September 16, 2021.

Babalag West in Rizal was also placed under lockdown effective September 5, 2021, until further notice.

Barangays Balatoc and Colayo in Pasil are likewise on granular lockdown on September 6 until further notice.

The Provincial Health Office reiterates the need for a more stringent enforcement of MPHS and border controls in all LGUs and to focus on areas where most new cases arise, specifically Tabuk City, Pinukpuk, and especially in Rizal, given the presence of Delta variant.

The office further recommends propositioning or stockpiling the needed medical supplies, materials including PPEs, and pieces of medical equipment (oxygen tanks, oxygen concentrators) in anticipation of more COVID-19 infection.

The PIATF has yet to issue GCQ guidelines as of writing.
