Kalinga soldier ranks 1st in army training "MAKADASIG" Class

Tinglayan, Kalinga – Private Troy Bantiag who hails from Tinglayan, Kalinga received recognition during the closing ceremony of Candidate Soldier Course for graduating at the top of his class.


The ceremony which signals the turning to soldiers of the 144 individuals of "MAKADASIG" (Mandirigmang may Kagitingan, Dangal at Sigasig) Class 715-2021 was held on May 17, 2022 at the grounds of Special Forces Regiment (Airborne).


Special Forces Regiment - Airborne, Philippine Army, in a press release, said the class which was composed of regular and enlist training quota have undergone 13 weeks of rigorous training at Special Forces School (SFS) in Fort Ramon Magsaysay Military Reservation.

Bantiag shared he felt proud that he was trained in the military reservation, under the supervision of instructors with profound knowledge.


"Sa class po namin, mayroong nurse, teacher, filmmaker, mayroon pa ngang member ng National Boxing Team at National Football team. Special enlist din po ako at sa Fort Bonifacio po ako mapupunta pero habambuhay ko pong aalalahanin ang experiences ko rito,” he said.


Bantiag was known as “The Hunter” when he was yet a Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) practitioner of Team Lakay. Record shows he last fought in 2016 in Brave Combat Federation.
