‘Kalinga Sports Complex NOT for driver’s training’ – Kalinga PLGU

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Having observed that the Kalinga Sports Complex is now becoming a venue for the public to train on driving, the provincial government of Kalinga reminded on Monday, August 21, that the sports facility is not intended for such purpose.

In the advisory made, the provincial government said that while the facility is undergoing improvement, it still serves as a recreational space for sports and health and wellness activities.

The advisory emphasized the facility is primarily designed for said purpose.

Apart from said reason, the provincial government said that driving activities pose a danger to the public utilizing the facility. Aside from that, it could lead to the facility itself being damaged.

“The presence of pedestrians, joggers, and other visitors poses a significant safety risk to both learner drivers and other individuals using the facility,” they explained.

Moreover, driving activities may also cause disturbance not only to the facility’s users but also to residents living nearby.

The complex's layout and architecture may also result in limited visibility for drivers and trainers which may lead to collisions, crashes, and even near-collisions.

“Practicing driving within the complex can cause wear and tear to the sports facilities, resulting in unnecessary maintenance costs and potential disruptions to sports events,” the advisory further reads.

Citing said reasons, the provincial government now urged yKalingas to look for alternative options when trying to practice driving their vehicles.

For safer and more effective driver training, the public may enroll in driving schools or utilize parking lots, driving simulators, and local roads with low traffic.
