Kalinga State University may hold in-person graduation this 2022

Updated: Oct 13, 2022

Tabuk City, Kalinga – President of Kalinga State University, Dr. Eduardo T. Bagtang on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, said that the conduct of face-to-face graduation ceremony is a possibility with the eased restriction under Alert Level 1 status of the Province of Kalinga.

This was the response of Bagtang to a question thrown by one of the university’s graduating student and Guru Press - Cordillera trainee during a press conference with Chairperson of the Commission on Higher Education, Dr. J. Prospero “Popoy” E. De Vera III, aired at Gimpong 92.1 FM Station.

“Let’s pray…Magdasal tayo na mula ngayon, level 1 or zero level na, if that is the case, sigurado may (in-person) graduation sa May or June,” underscored Bagtang.

Meanwhile, De Vera affirmed that the ‘best assurance’ for in-person graduation is the attainment of full vaccination rate among faculty and students at the university.

“…kasi ang incidence ng transmission ay bababa tsaka komportable ka kasi alam mo, kung ang katabi mo ay hindi vaccinated, baka hindi ka umattend ng graduation,” added the Commissioner.

According to Bagtang, 86% of the total number of students enrolled in the university are already vaccinated against COVID-19.

“So we are continuously campaigning na dapat 100% sana para pagdating nung face-to-face classes ay fewer worries, much more ‘pag graduation na,” the university president stressed.
