Kalinga to host inaugural arm wrestling tournament

Tabuk City, Kalinga - As the countdown begins for Kalinga's 29th founding anniversary and 5thBodong Festival, the public is invited by the provincial government to join or watch the celebration of tradition, strength and unity through the inaugural arm wrestling invitational tournament.

More than just a sporting event, said tournament symbolizes the resilience, unity and vibrant spirit of the Kalinga community. Likewise, it serves as an avenue to foster camaraderie and embody the values ingrained in Bodong Festival.

Scheduled for February 17, 2024, at 8:00 in the morning, the extravaganza will take place at the Kalinga Astrodome in Bulanao, Tabuk City.

Divisions

The tournament offers divisions for both men and women. For Kalinga's homegrown talents, the men's division features categories for amateurs based on weight, including those under 80 kilograms (kgs) and those 80 kgs and above.

Meanwhile, the women's division boasts open-weight categories for both Kalinga residents and outsiders, providing a platform for female athletes to showcase their strength.

In addition, the Open Pro Division welcomes participants from all backgrounds, with weight distinctions ensuring a level playing field for competitors under and above 80 kgs.

Prizes

As competitors vie for victory, the allure of the prize pool adds an extra layer of excitement. First placers will receive P3,500, P2,500 for the second placers and P1,500 for the third placers.

Registration is open to all, with fees set at P500 for residents of Kalinga province and P1,000 for outsiders. Inclusive of registration are jersey T-shirt, water, and additional kits soon to ensure that participants are well-equipped for the competition ahead.
