Kalinga Veterinary Office offers free pet vaccination, vitamin, consultation, deworming

Updated: Mar 4, 2023

Tabuk City, Kalinga - For the welfare and benefit of its constituents, the Office of the Provincial Veterinarian is encouraging Kalinga pet owners to step up their involvement in the prevention of animal bite incidents.

Availing of the free services being rolled out by the office in time for Rabies Awareness Month this March such as the anti-rabies vaccination helps prevent potential exposure to rabies, a preventable viral disease, which is responsible for the death of at least 200 Filipinos each year, according to a data released by the Department of Health.

Pet owners may likewise avail of the free consultation, deworming, and vitamin administration of the office. These services are available from Mondays to Fridays at the DA Compound in Purok 3, Bulanao, Tabuk City.

For minor surgery like castration, it will be done by appointment for the convenience of the surgeon but it will be on business days just the same, informed Provincial Veterinarian Leonardo Damian.

Free services, he added, are administered by their office “year round” as long as drugs and antibiotics are available.

“Other activities like information education and communication like distributions of leaflets re: Pag-iwas sa rabies and conduct of orientation among barangay officials on target barangays is simultaneously done also on the whole month of March,” Damian said.

“Practice responsible pet ownership”

Said office appealed for the public, especially dog owners, to practice responsible pet ownership “by providing the basic freedom of our dog like freedom from hunger and thirst, freedom from discomfort, freedom from diseases, and freedom to exercise their normal behavior.

“Always see to it nga haan nga agwalwalang dagiti alaga tayo nga aso and of course pabakunaan dagiti alaga tayo nga aso ditoy paylang nga practice ket malapdan tayo or maiwasan tyo nga makakagat dagiti as-aso tayo ken maiwasan tayo ti rabies. Together, let’s cooperate to prevent rabies and be one to make Kalinga rabies-free tapnu kasta ket LUMINLIN-AWA KALINGA,” reiterated the provincial veterinarian.
