‘Kape ti gapu ti panagprogresso ti biag ti tag-Tanudan’ – Mayor Dagadag

Tanudan, Kalinga – Coffee is not only a product for economic gain in Tanudan, but is a commodity with significance as it has been the main means by which many families have been able to improve their lives, said Mayor Jaedicke Rhoss Dagadag during the town’s 9th Kape Festival on June 24.

In the past, Kalinga was a huge producer of coffee beans, and many families were able to send their children to school because of their coffee plantation.

Dagadag explained that Tanudan is celebrating Kape Festival because coffee is one of the main products of Tanudan and that majority of its mountains have it.

Dagadag emphasized that through coffee production, many became professionals, lawyers, engineers and others. “…ken apay ngata nga adu iti naadalan idi? Adu lawyers tayo, engineers tayo, ket gapu siguro iti nasob-sobra nga hinarvest da nga kape ket isu iti nakaadalan iti kakailayan tayo nga Tanudan,” he said.

He added that coffee production brought big infrastructures to Tanudan like the 13-kilometer farm-to-market road in Pangol, funded with P130.6 million through the Philippine Rural Development Project.

Dagadag encouraged his constituents to continue cultivating coffee through the guidance of concerned government agencies.

Having this year’s festival theme that says ‘Unity through diversity: Honoring our past, embracing our future’, the mayor wrapped up his message by asking the continuous cooperation of every yTanudan for the municipality to keep progressing.

“Dawatek latta kanyayu nga kakailyan nga taga Tanudan iti kooperasyon yu tapnu kasta ket medyo umab-abante tayo met bassit. Adda met makita tayo nga improvement iti ili tayo ket itul-tuloy tayo latta,” he said.
