Baguio City, Philippines – With the recent positive developments in the road rehabilitation of Kennon Road, the route shall be ready for all inbound and outbound motorists and road users starting 5:00 AM tomorrow, April 02, 2022.

The Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council ordered this through its Memorandum No. 15, series of 2022 released by Office of the Civil Defense – Cordillera earlier today.

The council stated that the two-way reopening of Kennon Road is in response to the request of Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong as it recognizes the road as one of the major national roads in Baguio-Benguet.

Joint Inter-Agency Task Force Kennon (JIATF Kennon) reminded motorists to drive safely, strictly adhere to traffic and parking rules, and maintain a speed limit of 30kph, particularly along curvatures.

Vehicles or trucks exceeding the five tons gross tonnage limit shall be prohibited to pass through Kennon Road.

The advisory further said that in case of inclement weather or detected ground shaking or earthquake with or without aftershock/s which may trigger landslides and rockfalls, the Municipality of Tuba, through the Tuba MPS, in coordination with DPWH – Cordillera and OCD – CAR, shall immediately close Kennon Road until public safety is guaranteed.
