Cagayan, Philippines – The two New People’s Army members who got killed during a gunfight between the military and rebels on February 13 in Baggao town are squad leader and finance officer, the 5th Infantry Division revealed.

Sisoy Andel and Paolo Macaraeg Alyas 'Tobby' were among the members of the Komiteng Probinsya Cagayan-Komiteng Rehiyon-Cagayan Valley who exchanged fire with the military on Monday afternoon in Barangay Sta. Margarita, Baggao.

Sisoy sustained serious injuries during the 30-minute gunfight with the army who were then patrolling the area.

Sisoy’s comrades escaped. However, they were tracked by the government troops during a hot pursuit operation. This led to the second gunfight which resulted in the death of Tobby.

Sisoy was a native of Talaingod, Davao Del Norte. He was the Squad Leader of the dismantled Komiteng Probinsya-Isabela.

According to the 5ID, it was in 2019 when Sisoy was transferred to Isabela where a year later, he became an official member of the Regional Sentro De Grabidad.

In 2021, Sisoy went to Baggao.

Tobby, on the other hand, was the Finance Officer of the Komiteng Rehiyon-Cagayan Valley. He was from Cavite. While he was studying at a prestigious university in Manila, he became a member of Kabataang Makabayan.

5ID further added that Tobby was one of those who attacked the safe house of the Military Intelligence Group in Baggao in 2017.

Acknowledging the rights of these slain cadres to have a decent burial, the 5ID appeals to their families and relatives to contact them through 09550944526.
