KPH earns “3 Green Star” award for outstanding efforts in environmental sustainability and public health

Tabuk City, Kalinga -  As a testament to the outstanding efforts of the facility in environmental sustainability and public health, Kalinga Provincial Hospital was conferred the prestigious 3 Green Star Award from the Department of Health (DOH) recently.

The 3 Green Star Award is one of the highest honors being given by the DOH to healthcare facilities across the country that demonstrate outstanding performance in various strategic areas.

These include governance, energy and water efficiency, sanitation, healthcare, waste management, environmental resiliency, and overall sustainability. These areas of assessment recognize hospitals/health facilities that have both the health of their patients and the well-being of the environment are their priorities.

Winning the award shows that KPH is ready to bring environmentally responsible practices into their everyday operations.

Tough evaluation procedure before earning the award

Before receiving the award, KPH underwent first a thorough assessment process by the DOH. The assessment involved document surveys, interviews of the key hospital personnel, ocular inspections of the facilities within the hospital, and a comprehensive review of leadership commitment toward sustainable practices.

The evaluation highlighted the outstanding efforts that the hospital was undertaking to improve patient care and other operational performance while reducing its environmental impact.

A milestone for the Kalinga health sector

The award is a milestone not only for KPH but also for the health sector of Kalinga province, as the Provincial Government has been actively integrating green technology into public health services through its LUMIN-AWA Kalinga agenda.

The achievement signifies team effort from hospital personnel, staff, and the Kalinga PLGU in championing sustainable development in health service delivery.
