53-yr.-old man in Isabela ends life by drinking toilet cleaner

Isabela, Philippines – A laborer in Santiago City, Isabela decided to end his life by drinking a toilet cleaner on Monday, Sept. 04, 2023.

Relatives of the 53-year-old victim, whose identity was withheld for security reasons, said he had been considering taking his own life due to family and financial hardships.

He was last seen entering the old cemetery in Purok 4, Calaocan village, Santiago in the morning of said day.

It was around 7:10 in the evening when he was found lying dead at the cemetery.

A bottle of toilet cleaner, along with the victim’s belongings, was recovered at the scene.

Having been convinced that no foul play was involved in his death, his family refused post-mortem examination.

In a related report, a 43-year-old tricycle driver committed suicide recently by shooting himself inside their house in Zone 7, San Antonio, Aparri after having a heated argument with his wife. A caliber 9mm with seven bullets and a shell casing were recovered by authorities.
