LAGA Fashion Show 2025: Kalinga indigenous textiles and crafts to be showcased anew come February

Tabuk City, Kalinga - Kalinga indigenous textiles and crafts will be showcased anew next month as the Laga Fashion Show will be back as one of the main highlights of the upcoming 30th Kalinga Founding Anniversary and 6th Bodong Festival  slated  to begin from February 10 -16, 2025.

 

The Laga Fashion is a venue for the Kalinga local designers to champion their respective designs of indigenous modern-style clothing. 

 

According to the Philippine Information Agency - Kalinga, the show will take place particularly at the Capitol Park on February 11, starting at 5:00 p.m. Around fifteen iKalinga weavers are expected to participate in the event. 

 

During the Laga Fashion Show Committee Meeting on Thursday, January 9, the show Committee Chairperson Lorraine Ngao-I said the event aims to promote the products of the weavers, thus helping them boost their income and the  economic status of the province. 

 

“We are inviting everyone to watch the Laga Fashion Show 2025 because this is in promotion of our Kalingalaga textiles. This is helping the economic activity of our indigenous women weavers from Kalinga,” she added. 

 

In addition to the Laga Show, Ngao-i shared that the Bodong Festival will coincide with the visit of the National Commission of Culture and the Arts (NCCA) for its SaanKaLulugar (SKL) project—a project of the NCCA’s National Committee on Architecture and Allied Arts for the celebration of the National Arts Month.

 

Likewise, visitors from the Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) of the Department of Tourism, together with members of the media, are also set to visit the province during the festival for their TPB’s Community-Based Tourism program. 

 

The program aims to increase community involvement in tourism development and promote sustainable tourism.

 

 “Sila ‘yungmgabibisitasamga sites and attractions and maichachamba din sa (festival). They also want to check the community or the villages,” Ngao-i further relayed.
