‘Let us stand together as one’– Lacwasan to Cordillerans in pursuit of autonomy

Luna, Apayao – Committee on Indigenous Peoples Concerns (CIPC) Chairperson Bonifacio Lacwasan Jr. of Regional Development Council - Cordillera called on Cordillerans to unite for the realization of regional autonomy during the 36th Cordillera Month Celebration program.

The event was held in Luna, Apayao on Saturday, July 15, 2023.

Lacwasan, during his speech, urged Cordillerans to work together for the region’s further improvements.

“I invite all Cordillerans to carry forward this cherished tradition as we work together harmoniously for the betterment of future generations, our region, and the nation,” he said.

The governor likewise mentioned that Cordillerans should also recognize the invaluable contributions of its forefathers.

“On this momentous occasion, we honor the memories of our wise ancestors who have guided us throughout our journey. With gratitude and pride, we acknowledge the invaluable legacy they have entrusted to us stewards and heirs of our land and region,” he stated.

Meantime, aside from the governor, various officials in the region also expressed their solidarity messages during the program.

Likewise, cultural presentations, a beating of the region’s unity gong, and a turnover ceremony were also held wherein the region’s six provinces received each a brand-new emergency vehicle from the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office.
