LGU Balbalan reminds residents to comply with CoViD-19 guidelines despite drop in cases

Balbalan, Kalinga―Despite drop on CoViD-19 positive cases in Balbalan, Mayor Eric Gonayon, Sr. reminds the constituents on the strict compliance with the guidelines under the recent declaration of Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) in the entire municipality.

From the 93 active cases of CoViD-19 with 1 confirmed death recorded in the municipality, the LGU logged only 36 active cases as of January 27, 2021.

Gonayon, Sr. said in interview that in spite of the lifting of lockdown imposed in two barangays, Poblacion and Talalang, where the surge of the virus was detected, people should continue to take care of themselves and observe health protocols.

“Uray nalift ti lockdown [in two barangays], MECQ tayo tatta, haan latta nga mabalin ti rumwar ken mapan ti daduma nga barangays,” he said.

Through the Executive Order No. 05, s. 2021, the municipality is placed under MECQ effective January 25 until February 8, 2021.

The EO states that public transportation shall be suspended except those travels for the purchase of essential goods to Tabuk City and which vehicles are registered to the CIATF-Tabuk through the LGU-Balbalan following a definite schedule of travel of each PUJ in every barangay.

In addition, all travels in and out of the municipality shall be permitted only upon securing health declaration certificates and travel passes from the LGU.

Meanwhile, Gonayon and Vice Mayor Winifredo Agapito deeply expressed their appreciation to the Provincial LGU, DSWD, Barangay LGU, and private donors for providing relief assistance to the families of barangay Talalang and barangay Poblacion which was placed under Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) lasted on January 23.

Said relief assistance provided by the private donors greatly helped the LGU and other higher offices of the government in the augmentation of their resources to sustain their emergency relief operation.
