LGU Tinglayan all set for clean-up drive to control rise in Dengue cases


Tinglayan, Kalinga – The Local Government of Tinglayan prepares its conduct of simultaneous clean-up drive for its 20 barangays this Wednesday, July 6 to counter the slight rise in dengue cases in the municipality and to support aims of celebration of the National Disaster Resilience Month.


The municipality logged 10 active Dengue cases – 8 in Poblacion and 1 each in Luplupa, Ambato and Lower Bangad in the last weeks.


In 2021, the municipality was free of the dengue disease.

In a memorandum, Tinglayan Mayor Sacrament Gumilab ordered the simultaneous activity to be participated upon by municipal local government employees and barangay LGUs.


The mayor likewise encouraged the public to participate as force multiplier for a safe and dengue-free Tinglayan.


In connection to said endeavor, Concepcion Osleg of the Municipal Health Office reminds yTinglayans to take precaution these rainy seasons as this could further exacerbate the risk of Dengue.


Aside from the 4S strategy –Search and destroy, Self-protection measures, Seek early consultation, and Support fogging or spraying, the public have been advised to drink 8 glasses of water every day for rehydration and boost their immune system as this can also help in preventing dengue.

Covid-19 update


Meantime, in an update by MHO Tinglayan, the office said the municipality maintains its COVID-free status.


The municipality already vaccinated 6, 835 or 72.42 percent of its 9,437 total target population for herd immunity.


The office encourages everyone to get vaccinated and for those vaccinated twice to avail of their booster shots.


“The office is open for vaccination from 8 am to 5 pm, Monday until Friday. We have Pfizer for adult (18 doses), Pfizer for 5 – 11 years old (30 doses), Sinovac (103 doses), and Moderna (30 doses) available for 1st and 2nd dose vaccination as well as booster shots,” the office said.
