Are you ready to fly to Cebu via Baguio?

Updated: Dec 4, 2022

Baguio City, Philippines - “We’re ready for Dec. 16!” remarked Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong moments after the successful test or demo flight of Philippine Airlines at Loakan Airport on Monday morning, Nov. 28, 2022.

With everything in place and in control, Magalong expressed confidence that the airport is now prepared for the Cebu -Baguio -Cebu commercial flight slated on the third Friday of December.

The spokesperson of Philippine Airlines, Cielo Villaluna, agreed that the positive result of the test flight proves “all systems go for the official opening.”

Test Flight PR 6230, she said, departed Manila at 10:39 a.m. of Monday, and the plane with Captain Anthony Larena, Captain Vincent Almeda, and Cabin Crew team members Dawn Andrade, Sharon Francisco and Michelle Mariano in command, touched down at the Loakan Airport at 11:30 a.m.

Villaluna described the demo flight to be the culmination of the rigorous preparation of all the industry stakeholders.

“Philippine Airlines management, DOTr - CAAP (Department of Tourism - Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines), and Baguio LGU have been working together to make this test flight happen, and it was indeed a smooth journey,” said the spokesperson.

PAL, in its report, stated many Cebuano already booked flights, which signifies their interest to explore the city. Some of those from Baguio City also made an advance booking for the Cebu trip.
