Tabuk City, Kalinga – As a strategic support program, the Department of Trade and Industry – Kalinga, in collaboration with the provincial government and other partner agencies, showcases the local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) at the forefront through Treasure’s Fair 2023.
With a ribbon cutting held along MSA Boulevar, the exhibit was officially opened to the public on Monday, Feb. 06.
The trade fair has become part of the annual anniversary celebration of the province as the government’s marketing intervention strategy, especially with the negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the business sector.
Last year, the exhibition participated by 62 MSMEs generated a total sale of P3,053,952.
This 2023, a hundred MSMEs are taking part in the event, along with other invited new clients group booth, informed the OIC of SME Development Division, Josephine Daliyong. All participating MSMEs are members of the Chamber of Kalinga Producers Inc. (CKAPI), displaying wearables, fashion accessories, processed foods, homestyle sectors, and other products.
In her talk, Regional Director of DTI-CAR Juliet Lucas lauded all those involved in setting up the trade fair and likewise expressed gratitude to MSMEs for their contribution to the province’s development.
“Looking back, the Kalinga Treasures Fair has been growing in popularity, participation, the number of products, the dynamism of product development and distribution which increases confidence among Kalinga producers. With that, we thank our MSMEs who continue to develop products, and create employment and income that contribute to your progress here in Kalinga,” she stated.
Joining her in the opening program were DTI Region 1 Director Grace Baluyan, DA-CAR Technical Director Danilo Daguio, Congressman Allen Jesse Mangaoang, Governor James Edduba, Vice Gov. Jocel Baac, DTI Kalinga Director Renie Ramos, Daliyong, Provincial Agriculturist Domingo, among other CKAPI officers and members.
Part of the Treasure’s Fair was the Diskwento Caravan where basic goods and prime commodities were offered with discounted prizes at the special booths set across Jollibee. The two-day caravan was made possible through the efforts of DTI-Kalinga which partnered with producers to give chance for community members to get their needs at affordable prices.
The best booth from wearables and fashion accessories, processed foods, and home styles sectors will be recognized on February 10.
On February 13, the Best New Product contest will be held for One Town, One Product (OTOP) for “next-gen” wearables and processed foods.
Likewise, there will be First Tabuk City Open Coffee Quality Competition that is open to all Kalinga coffee farmers and processors. Free tasting of winning coffees is set on February 14 at the DTI Secretariat of the Kalinga Treasures Fair.
