‘Lockdown eased Covid-19 situation in Tinglayan- Mayor Gumilab


Tabuk City, Kalinga – Mayor Sacrament Gumilab said on Friday, December 18, 2020 that the situation in Tinglayan Municipality is now getting better , which he attributed to the implementation of municipal-wide lockdown and the positive response of the residents.


In an interview with Guru Press Cordillera, Gumilab said the trend of individuals recorded to have the virus is in decline. This is based on the results of the contact tracing conducted in the area.


Gumilab lauded the obedience of his constituents in the following the rules and regulations of the strict implementation of lockdown protocols, and thus the surge of the Covid -19 infection in their municipality have been stopped.


“Gapu iti panagtungpal iti tao iti lockdown protocols, medyo simmayaaten ittuy Tinglayan, awanen dagituy problema tayu ta by December 21 inggana Christmas, sigurado nga mayat ti Christmas tayun,” Gumilab said.

“Ti agpospositive laengen ket dagituy drivers, frontliners… given diyayen ta isu da met ti asideg dituy nga virus ket dagiti recoveries tayu, nagadu,” he further shared.


The lockdown implemented, according the mayor, was also a great help as it controlled the movements of people and the fast contact tracing paved way for immediate identification and quarantine.


“Diay contact tracing tayu, napaspas ta uray idi kasagsaganen ittuy Bangad ket pati dagidiay secondary contacts ket inquarantine mi isudan tapnu han nga umadu so gapu idiay nagpatinggan,” he added.


The lockdown imposed on the municipality ends on the 21st of December, but Gumilab said the implementation of safety measures shall be maintained to avoid the same scenario from taking place.

When asked regarding relief goods, the mayor said supplies are still enough to feed people affected by the lockdown, and relief goods procured by Tinglayan LGU were not distributed yet. Tinglayan LGU is set to distribute the half cavan rice(per family) tomorrow and on Sunday.

As of this writing, Tinglayan’s number of active cases for the Covid-19 virus is 87.
