Love triangle ends life of man from Rizal, suspect surrenders

Rizal, Kalinga – A love triangle ended the life of a man in Barangay Calaocan, Rizal, after receiving multiple stab wounds, allegedly from the live-in partner of his girlfriend Monday morning of May 17.

Police Captain George Acob, Rizal Chief of Police narrated that based on initial investigation, the suspect who is from Tanudan is married to the victim’s girlfriend through ‘Palanus’ or customary laws.

Initial investigation reveals that the suspect, after finding out that his ‘wife’ did not actually go to Dagupan as she claimed, he then went to Calaocan, Rizal to look for her.

“According to the suspect, itong babae nagpaalam hapon nung May 16, nagpaalam sa kanilang bahay na pupunta doon sa bahay nila sa Dagupan pero nung tinanong niya [suspect] dun, wala ‘yung babae tapos kinabukasan sinundan niya rito sa Rizal, ‘yun ang first time na pumunta rito ‘yung lalaki,” Acob said.

Upon arrival at victim’s house, the suspect stabbed him on the hand, side of his neck, and lower abdomen. “Maraming saksak lalo na sa kamay, pero may tama siya sa gilid ng leeg niya tapos dito sa may lower abdomen,” he said.

The suspect then fled the crime scene while the victim was rushed to a hospital where he was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.

The Rizal police immediately conducted a hot pursuit operation, but on the afternoon of May 17, they were informed that the suspect already surrendered at the Kalinga Police Provincial Office.

Investigation is still on going.
