Baguio City, Philippines – With its implementation of Oplan Biyaheng Ayos: Semana Santa 2022, Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board – Cordillera (LTFRB-CAR) has barred public transport vehicles with lacking documents from plying their regular routes.

In a press release, the agency explained Oplan Biyaheng Ayos: Semana Santa 2022 is a nationwide program of LTFRB, Department of Transportation and other partner agencies to ensure safety of passengers going to their home provinces and vacationers for the Holy Week.

The agency on Sunday, April 10, held two units of Genesis Transport Service Inc. from their supposed trips to Pasay and Avenida, Manila for failing to secure Special Permit and QR codes which are among the requirements of public vehicles to travel this COVID-19 pandemic. Also, fire extinguishers of the units have expired.

On April 10, four units of utility vehicles of Buguias Benguet Transport Service Cooperative were likewise prohibited for the same reason.

Officer in Charge - Regional Director Engr. Lalaine Sobremonte cautioned the transport cooperatives and corporations in the region to be responsible for following the guidelines of the agency to ensure the safety not only of the passengers but also of the drivers, conductors, and the vehicles.

She reiterated the personnel of the agency were deployed to the different terminals to conduct inspections before the public vehicles are allowed to ply their routes. They will likewise provide assistance especially for the person with disabilities (PWDs), senior citizens, pregnant and individuals who are in need of medical assistance.

Sobremonte noted that the Oplan Biyaheng Ayos: Semana Santa 2022 will end on April 18, reiterating the importance of practicing minimum public health standards in terminals and throughout the travel to avoid the spread of the virus.
