Updated: Sep 27

Tanudan, Kalinga - The captivating and breathtaking view of Lubo along with its rich heritage and admirable hospitality did not remain unnoticed in the 2024 Search for the Best Tourism Village in Cordillera.

The Lubo Tourism Village, one of the two entries of Tanudan in the competition, is one of the top 12 shortlisted best among the best villages in the Cordillera.

The community was recognized in a ceremony at the Baguio City Country Club on September 20, 2024, with Tanudan Municipal Tourism Officer Aurie Mae Banson receiving the award on behalf of the Lubo community and the Tanudan local government headed by Mayor Jaedicke Rhoss Dagadag.

Banson described that among the things Lubo could offer the world are its majestic Lubo Terraces and its rich cultural heritage which include the practice of ‘batok’ or hand-tap tattooing and the making of pots.

“Although Lubo did not secure a spot in the top 6, the Municipality of Tanudan, particularly Lubo Village, remains committed to the tourism industry and sees this as an opportunity to strive for improvement in future competitions,” Banson said.

This is Tanudan’s first attempt at showcasing their villages in the prestigious regional competition. The other entry which is the Mangali Tourism Village highlighted its natural wonders such as the Matakad Falls of Poblacion, the twin falls of Mangali Centro, and the unique ‘Sinagi’ of Anggacan.

With the successful debut of Tanudan in the Search for the Best Tourism Village competition, the municipal tourism officer credited the feat to the support of the Tanudan LGU and the cooperation and dedication of the Lubo and Mangali communities.
