Lubuagan LGU condemns murder of 48-year-old man, convenes elders to keep peace and order

Lubuagan, Kalinga – During a meeting with elders, the police, and local officials on Monday, LGU-Lubuagan made a statement condemning the killing of the 48-year-old man working as a job order employee at the municipality.


The victim, John Lumpao, a resident of Barangay Mabongtot was shot twice in the chest around 7:50 PM at his boarding house in Sitio Tiwod, Barangay Antonio Canao by an unidentified gunman last July 21, 2022.


He was declared dead on arrival at 8:10 PM on the same date. Lubuagan LGU, through Mayor Joel Tagaotao, emphasized the importance of peace and order in the municipality and the efforts of his administration to ensure the safety of all amid the unfortunate incident.

Tagaotao stressed, “Whatever the reason for the perpetrator/s, [it] does not give them the right to kill this innocent victim.”


The mayor also called on the public to remain vigilant, saying, “we have to cooperate and unite as people against all forms of violence and lawlessness.”


The Philippine National Police in Lubuagan, together with the LGU and other national line agencies, are working to identify and apprehend the person or people behind the shooting.

As the investigation progresses, the LGU asks the public to refrain from spreading unverified information regarding the incident and to wait for official statements from their information channel.


Meanwhile, the Municipal Local Government Unit of Lubuagan and its officials extend their condolences and sympathies to the bereaved family.
