Lubuagan PNP opens ‘Barangay Kusina’ to help ease Covid-19 crisis

Lubuagan, Kalinga – As the Philippine National Police takes part in helping communities cope with the pandemic, the Lubuagan Municipal Police Station also opened a ‘Barangay Kusina’ on April 23 in Sitio Sukiap, Barangay Tanglag.

PSsg. Prodencio Atas, Chief Municipal Community Affairs Development Division said that the activity is anchored from the ‘Barangayanihan’ of the PNP which their office localized to ‘Barangay Kusina’.

The program he said was influenced by a certain man in the country who was giving free fruits and goods to the economically challenged individuals, as his way of helping them in this current crisis caused by the pandemic.

“Kasi nakita ng PNP na dapat daw tularan itong tao at maging practice rin ng PNP,” he said.

The ‘Barangay Kusina’ offers arozcaldo and basic goods and necessities such as sugar, salt, detergent, cupcakes and disposable face masks. He added that the personnel went to visit some houses to distribute the goods.

He informed that for the coming days, they will be visiting the four barangays covered by the End Local Communist Armed Conflict (ELCAC) program to include in Lower, Upper and Western Uma, Barangay Mabongtot to deliver same project. The funding of the activity, he said, came from the contributions of the personnel of PNP Lubuagan.

Meanwhile, donations from individuals or groups that want to take part in the activity are also accepted, Atas said.
