Lubuagan expects improvement in egg production with DA poultry grant

Lubuagan, Kalinga – The 90-member Latawan Farmer’s Irrigators Association Incorporation in Western Uma will soon have the opportunity to boost egg production in the locality with the construction of a poultry house for the entrepreneurial project.


Municipal Agriculturist Charlie Osdeg said the 6 x12 meters poultry house is worth P400,000 and can accommodate up to 1000 chickens.


The chickens with feeds, vaccines and cages will be provided by the Department of Agriculture (DA) after the completion of the poultry house.


Osdeg said that some of the members will soon undergo trainings to ensure the maintenance of the poultry house, including the management and handling of chickens until egg production.


“Aside nga agited food supply kadagiay members, diay sobra na tu ket ilako da ken kitan mi met lang nu kaya da agaramid ti leche flan as product da,” Osdeg added.

The poultry house and the lot were funded by the Municipal Local Government Unit (MLGU) led by Mayor Charisma Anne Dickpus and will be supplemented by the DA- Special Area for Agricultural Development (DA-SAAD) Egg Production Project.


Roofing of the poultry house is ongoing while the screens are being procured.


The project is expected to be completed this month, September 2021, before the provision of layer chicken stocks by the DA-SAAD Program.


Meanwhile, the beneficiaries provided the physical labor of the poultry project.


Funded through DA-SAAD, the project was recently validated in said End Local Communist Armed Conflict (ELCAC) -covered barangay of Lubuagan.
