LUMIN-AWA BIKEFEST: Kalinga to hold bike race and fun bike on Feb. 22 at Catao Lake,Tabuk City

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Kalinga LUMIN-AWA Bikefest is more fun this year with the venue chosen being the Catao Lake, located about 5 to 7 kilometers from the center of Barangay Lacnog in Tabuk City, scheduled to take place on February 22, 2025.

Named after the Sitio where it is located, Catao Lake is often referred to by the locals, particularly the Butbut tribe, as “the Hidden Paradise” of Catao Green Land.

The words ‘green land,” according to one of the residents in an interview with GURU Press Cordillera, refers to the place because of its lush and natural vegetation, such as the green grasses and trees.

To reach the lake, one will need to pass through rough roads and some uphill climbs and downhill rides; a perfect scene for thrills, thus the provincial government decided the place to be the venue for said event.

According to the province’s Information Office, the LUMIN-AWA BIKEFEST is part of the ongoing 30th Kalinga Founding Anniversary and 6th Bodong Festival. There are two categories one can choose from - the bike race and the fun ride.

The bike race is perfect for those looking for a competitive challenge, while the fun ride is intended for casual riders and families looking to enjoy the scenery of Catao Lake.

Said event is open to all cycling enthusiasts in the province aged 16 to 50 years. To participate, simply secure a slot by registering at any of the following locations: Dailymanna Food Hauz N Panciteria or Lacwasan Bike and Apparel Shop in Purok 4, Bulanao, Tabuk City.

Walk-in registration will also be available on the event day at Catao Lake, Barangay Lacnog. The PLGU is inviting everyone to join the thrilling activity.
