Luna, Apayao collects more gold medals in 2024 Provincial Athletic Meet

Luna, Apayao – The Luna delegation has delivered 82 gold medals in the 2024 Apayao Provincial Athletic Meet, breaking their last year’s record.

Clad in their white jersey bearing the ‘Luna Umuna’ tagline, 405 young athletes in the municipality represented the town in this year’s provincial sports festival held on February 24 – 26 at the Apayao Eco-Tourism and Sports Complex.

The players, having demonstrated their remarkable skills in sports, secured the first runner-up place after collecting a total of 219 medals – 82 gold, 67 silver, 70 bronze.

While they have retained their place from last year’s competition, the Luna delegation took home more gold medals this year compared to the 77 they got in 2023.

Mayor Josephine Bangsil who led the delegation in the competition congratulated the athletes, both those who won and are yet to receive their medals, for playing for the municipality.

For those who will be joining the CARAA meet in April, Mayor Bangsil assured that the Municipal Local Government Unit of Luna is full support and that they are rooting for them in the regional meet.
