Updated: Aug 5, 2023

Luna, Apayao – Luna, Apayao, has certainly brought out its people this ‘Rambak ni Mannalon’ festival in their creativity.

Participating in the parade of ingenuity on the first day of the festivity on July 31 are 8 floats - representing the districts - decorated by the 23 barangays.

Each float exhibited an array of agricultural products and crops being cultivated in Luna to highlight farmers’ huge contributions to society. They were made of raw materials such as bamboo, grains, corn husks and cobs, and other harvests and products.

Designers likewise paid special attention to small details such as putting ‘lechon’ and ‘malagkit’ inside the float to depict festivity.

District 5 composed of Barangays Tumog and Sta. Lina was hailed the champion of the float parade.

Coming second is District 1B – Lappa, Zumigui, Calayucay (AB) and District 4 – Quirino and San Isidro Sur at 3rd place.

Councilor Samuel Ramos Calilan who sponsored District 5 relayed to GURU Press Cordillera that the constituents of Tumog and Sta. Lina spent 2 weeks preparing their float.

He conveyed appreciation to these barangays for their effort and solidarity in finishing their entry even with Super Typhoon Egay raging over Luna last week of July.

“Agyamyamanak unay kanyada ta talaga si-a-ayat da nga tinmulong,” he expressed, adding that their greatest takeaway from the contest is the history they made being the first-ever winner of the float parade in Luna.
