Luna is first LGU in CAR to receive citation for safe transportation services this year

Luna, Apayao - After satisfactorily complying with the set criteria and guidelines for public transport planning, the local government unit of Luna in Apayao, was recently awarded with Notice of Compliance by the Department of Transportation (DOTr).

This comes after the LGU’s Local Public Transport Route Plan (LPTRP) has been evaluated and approved by the agency.

Under DOTr Order no. 2017-011, LPTRP is one of the key components of the Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program (PUVMP), which aims to provide smooth, modern, comfortable, and safe public transportation to the public.

With the program,  provinces, cities, and municipalities in the country shall form a plan establishing better transport systems in their respective areas.

After successfully passing the agency’s evaluation for their transportation plan this year, the NOC was awarded to Luna LGU by the  DOTr - Cordillera on April 2, 2024. The award recognizes the municipality’s dedication to providing efficient and safe transportation to its residents.

Receiving the award were Vice Mayor Manolito Bullaoit, along with SB members Relyn  Ballesteros and Edmon Cabrera.

The DOTr-Cordillera, in its press release, said Luna is the first LGU in the region to receive such a certificate this year.
