Magalong files case against DPWH-Baguio District Office over alleged corruption

Updated: Oct 17, 2022

Baguio City, Philippines – Mayor Benjamin B. Magalong formally filed on Friday, July 01 a complaint against the Department of Public Works and Highways - Baguio City District Engineering Office over alleged violation of Republic Act No. 3019 or the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act.

In a press release, Public Information Office - City of Baguio reported that Magalong ‘had his affidavit-complaint subscribed under oath before the City Prosecutor’s Office preparatory to filing before the Office of the Ombudsman in Quezon City.’

The complaint, according to the office, was directed against the eight officials and employees of the BCDEO involved to the alleged substandard sidewalk project along the Bonifacio Street.

“Basically yung content ng complaint is entering into a contract which is disadvantageous to the government at marami pa kaming ipa-file laban sa BCDEO since marami kaming nadidiscover na projects na substandard and defective,” stated the mayor.

Further, Magalong is preparing pieces of evidence for more complaints he is about to file relative to other alleged substandard projects.

These include the buildings of the Department of Education.
